Privacy Policy

GameSonar (gamesonar.gg) is a real-time gaming discovery platform. We aggregate publicly available data from gaming platforms to show trends, live streams, and community signals. See Impressum for operator details.

Account data (optional)

If you sign in via OAuth (Google, GitHub, Discord, Twitch, or Twitter/X), we store:

• Your name and email address (provided by the OAuth provider)
• Your profile picture URL
• A unique user ID (derived from the OAuth provider)

We do not receive or store your OAuth password. No payment data is collected.

User-generated data (when signed in)

• Favourite games you save
• Game lists (Playing, Wishlist, Completed, Backlog, Dropped)
• Personal ratings (0–100 score per game)
• Theme preference

No data collected when browsing without an account.

We use a single session cookie (next-auth.session-token) to keep you signed in. This cookie is strictly necessary and requires no consent banner.

Theme preference is stored in localStorage (key: atg-theme). This data never leaves your device.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics scripts.

GameSonar fetches data from the following APIs on the server side. Your IP address is never forwarded to these services when you browse GameSonar:

• Twitch API — live stream data
• YouTube Data API v3 — video and stream data
• Steam Store API — player count data
• Reddit OAuth2 API — community post data
• IGDB API (Twitch) — game metadata
• Bluesky ATP API — social post data
• NewsAPI / GNews — news headlines
• PandaScore API — esports data
• Wikimedia API — Wikipedia pageview statistics

Google Fonts are self-hosted (downloaded at build time). No requests are made to Google servers at runtime.

The app is hosted on Vercel (EU region). Database hosted on Supabase (EU region). Both services are GDPR-compliant. See their respective privacy policies for details.

• Art. 6(1)(b) — Contract performance: processing account data to provide sign-in functionality and personal features (favourites, lists, ratings).
• Art. 6(1)(f) — Legitimate interest: server-side API calls to provide real-time gaming data to users.

Account data is retained as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@gamesonar.gg.

Hype score snapshots (anonymous, game-level) are retained for up to 90 days for trend analysis and are not linked to individual users.

You have the right to:

• Access a copy of your personal data
• Rectification of inaccurate data
• Erasure ("right to be forgotten")
• Restriction of processing
• Data portability
• Object to processing
